Cruising to the Bahamas with Carnival

Today I wanted to share with a little more about what we did during the days on our 5 day cruise to the Bahamas. The ship was wonderful, but we had the most fun when we were at the ports, exploring the islands. Our first port was Freeport.

We decided to do a dolphin encounter with our son where you get to kiss and hug the dolphin. We took a van to a resort, then hopped on a boat to the dolphin sanctuary. The photo below is the water way that leads to the peaceful lagoon where the dolphins live.

We got up close and personal with these friendly dolphins. One was even pregnant! That’s her in the front with her chubby belly, isn’t she cute!

After playing with dophins, we got to play with the birds! My son loved him. He has a little cocktail he adores and also loves playing with our veterinarian’s Cockatoos and Macaws.

On a side note, my son is wrapped in my maxi skirt. I’m so glad I took a few on our cruise. You can wear them with tanks or tees, dress them up with a statement necklace or scarf, use them as a bathing suit coverup, or use them for soft wraps for tired cranky kids 🙂

The next day we made our way to Nassau. I couldn’t wait to see Atlantis, it’s a resort I’ve wanted to go for the longest time.

They have a huge waterpark, beautiful beaches and lots of pools. There’s also a huge pool for sharks.

The shark pool has this underwater glass walkway where you can see the sharks. There’s also lots of windows to see the sharks and other predator fish. It was gorgeous.

Our last port was Little Stirrup Cay, a private island. Here we enjoyed the sun, sand and lazy hammocks. It was the most beautiful day ever. I wish there was a cruise straight to this island and we could just hang out for  a few days, we loved it that much!

On the island you could also use your own snorkel gear, or rent some equipment. There wasn’t too much to see. I saw a sting ray and a few fish.

The water though, it was so clear and calm. The island was full of shade too when the sun got too hot.

They also had this aqua park that we spent about an hour in. It was so much fun! There were climby things, a slide and a couple of trampolines. There was a storm that rolled in too right after we did this. But the best thing about island storms is that they blow over pretty fast. By the time we finished a beer, the rain was gone!

We can’t wait to do our next Carnival Cruise. We’re already thinking about where we want to go next. It was a great family vacation and we got in so much relaxation, we did not want to get off the boat. We drove back home sad it was over so quickly. We’ll definitely do a 7 day cruise next time.

Thanks to Carnival for having us for the week! The cruise tickets were complimentary, but we picked up the tab for all the extras. All opinions 100% mine.
