The Best Part of Waking Up

On most mornings, my husband wakes up really early to make his long commute to work. I’ll wake up right after and hit the computer to try and get as much work done as possible. A typical morning for us is pretty uneventful. While I am furiously attack my inbox while sipping my coffee, I’ll play catch with our very energetic chocolate lab. I love spending the one on one time with our dog, his energy is definitely contagious. But I never feel awake till I hear the pitter patter of my son coming down the stairs. That’s when I feel really ready to attack the day. When he wakes up, I’ll make our breakfast, and we’ll watch a little morning television together.

While I cherish these everyday wake-up routines, I really appreciate those few perfect weekend mornings when we all get to sleep in and get awakened by the cutest, sweetest sound ever, my son. Nothing is better to me than to be sound asleep, my husband lying next to me in a peaceful slumber, and then my little boy gently nudge the two of us saying, “It’s wake up time!”
